The Plaine Images district of Roubaix/Tourcoing sees the birth of Euracreative , an ambitious initiative which aims to position the European Metropolis of Lille and the Hauts-de-France region as the first-rank territory of Cultural and Creative Industries (CIC).
The celebration of July 10, 2025 marks the first official highlight of this dynamic during which Euracreatif was finally able to reveal itself to more than 350 guests. Hosted by the director general Emmanuel Delamarre , our partners have given us their testimonies. Bernard Haesebroeck , Olivier Candelier , Frédéric Minard and Matthieu Corbillon shared their vision for this new adventure. This entity embodies a collective ambition to make a creative territory, Hauts-de-France, a major player in Cultural and Creative Industries (ICC) in Europe and internationally.
Birth of a major actor in cultural industries
A clear ambition
Euracreative embodies a clear and assumed ambition: permanently positioning the European Metropolis of Lille and the Hauts-de-France region as a territory in the forefront of cultural and creative industries on a European and global scale. This strategic vision is based on five complementary vertical business which constitute the heart of its creative ecosystem.
From video games to Tech Music, through audiovisual, design and live performance production, these sectors do not work in silos but dialogue, cross and enrich each other. This creative and innovative hybridization constitutes the distinctive force of Euracreative in the national and international landscape of ICCs.
"Today, with the birth of Euracreatif, we take a new step in our ambition: to make our territory a real catalyst of the cultural and creative industries. This pole, we wanted it to the image of the metropolis: daring, open, deeply anchored in the industrial and cultural history of our territory, but resolutely turned towards the future."
Damien Castelain, president of the European Metropolis of Lille
When research, training and industry combine
The creation of Euracreative in the form of a public interest group, makes it possible to bring together a collective of living forces in the territory around its ambition. This structure brings together the actors of higher education and research that are the University of Lille and the Catholic Institute of Lille , the representatives of the professional world such as Game in , Noranim and Pictanovo , as well as the actors of innovation such as the CITC .
This unique synergy makes it possible to create bridges between the sometimes compartmentalized worlds of research, training and industry. Emmanuel Delamarre, managing director of Euracreatif, perfectly sums up this ambition:
"It is an extraordinary opportunity to bring together the worlds of economics, teaching and research around a common goal, that of development, innovation, and the influence of ICCs and our territory."
Other members will join this collective dynamic by the end of the year, testifying to the attractiveness of the model and its ability to federate the actors around a shared vision.
Euracreative at the heart of a sector that counts
A creative ecosystem expanding
The creation of Euracreative in the creative district of the Plaine Images, is part of an economic context favorable to the cultural and creative industries. The sector represents in France nearly 92 billion euros in turnover, an economic weight close to that of the food industry and twice as important as that of the automotive industry.
This recognition was politically resulted in the inscription of CICs in the France 2030 Investment Plan, which has positioned this sector since 2022 as an economic priority in the same way as nuclear, hydrogen or electric vehicles.
From the end of the 2010s, the European Metropolis of Lille and the Hauts-de-France region positioned themselves on this sector in real pioneers. This anticipatory vision is bearing fruit today with: more than 700 companies in the Euracreative ecosystem in the Lille metropolis, 6000 jobs, 3,500 students in prestigious international schools.
The regional leaders bear witness to this success: Nacon , Ankama , 52 Entertainment , Alive , Karafun , MusicStory and Petit Bambou illustrate the diversity and quality of the creative ecosystem of Hauts-de-France.

A strategy of expanding a territory
From the Plaine Images, a creative district and steeped in history ...
It is from the site of excellence of the Plaine Magi that euracreative work on a daily basis to develop business and innovation of companies in the cultural and creative industries in the MEL, in the region and well beyond.
The story of Euracreatif is naturally rooted in that of the creative district of the Plaine Images and its remarkable industrial heritage.
From the 19th century, the Hauts-de-France textile industry already called for creativity via the design of patterns and the use of Jacquard machines. This tradition of creative innovation will find a new expression after the textile decline of the 1950s.
The creative Renaissance of the territory really begins in 2007 with the arrival of the Fresnoy - National Studio of Contemporary Arts , Pictanovo and Ankama on the site of the old textile factory. These pioneers pose the first stones of an ecosystem that will continue to grow. The Hauts-de-France territory also carries a pioneering spirit in audiovisual, with regional ambitions in the 1950s. In 1953, Lille was already participating in the first broadcast in Eurovision.
Today, this lively district and recognized by professionals in the sector brings together an impressive community: the Euracreative team and more than 150 companies in the sector, 50 entrepreneurial projects within its incubator, 3 international schools and several research centers, or around 2000 people who work, undertake, study and innovate daily on this unique site.
... until international influence of cultural and creative industries.
Euracreatif affirms its resolutely international dimension from its creation. Connections abroad bear witness to this ambition: active partnership with Canada with the Zù incubator , privileged relations with Belgium, the United Kingdom, Morocco, Tunisia, Colombia and South Africa. These cooperations allow Euracreative to assert its expertise and its ability to export innovation models in the sector.
This expansion strategy is also based on flagship events supported by the European Metropolis of Lille which radiate far beyond our regional borders.
