First French school to train in digital special effects (Les VFX in English), ArtFX was founded in 2004 in Montpellier by Gilbert Kiner, pioneer of visual effects in France, which began his career in the private Canal+chain.
The school has since expanded its offer, to train young French and international talents in the 2D animation cinema professions, animation of 3D characters, video games and programming for cinema and video games.
In 2021, ArtFX was devoted by The Rookies 1st School in Special Effects and Animation for the 3rd consecutive year in the “Excellence of Production” category, which rewards the quality of end -of -studies projects in teams.
Student end -of -studies projects have been the subject of nearly 1,000 selections by international festivals. They were rewarded by 1 victory at the Ves Awards in 2019 and 2 Genie Awards for the best student film (2018 and 2021) at Paris Images Digital Summit (PIDS).
ArtFX has developed an original pedagogy, which excludes competition and promotes cooperation between its students. Team spirit is a necessary quality to participate in the production of a film or video game, in the same way as technical excellence or creativity.
The artfx curriculum combines traditional artistic disciplines (drawing, sculpture, photography, etc.) with learning the most advanced technologies (software and filming material).
