Born in 1997 from the will of the Ministry of Culture and Communication to create a higher artistic establishment of a new type Le Fresnoy was thought of as a studio for the production of works on scale 1. It welcomes, for Two years, students of all nationalities. Their curriculum oscillates between traditional arts-visuals (cinema, photography) and digital creations (installation, interactive devices).
Each year, the Fresnoy produces more than 50 unpublished works which are presented to the public, professionals and general public, in the exhibition spaces of the Fresnoy, in the fall, as part of the event entitled Panorama.
In a building rehabilitated by the Franco-American architect Bernard Tschumi, he also offers to the public, throughout the year, major exhibitions of contemporary art, cinema programming, concerts, shows, conferences ...
For the Plaine Images ecosystem, it is a real laboratory for ideas, innovation and unprecedented use of technologies. Many collaborations exist with companies as well as with certain research laboratories involved in the Visual Sciences and Cultures project installed on the 1st floor of Imaginarium, Powerhouse of the Plaine Images.
