Manor Lord's lightning success impresses

At the top of the wish lists several weeks before its launch, Manor Lords recorded more than a million sales only two days after its release in early access on the Steam platform, recording a peak of 170,000 simultaneous players. Also available in the PC Game Pass, the medieval construction and strategy game published by Hooded Horse allows himself to play elbows with several triples at the moment!

Why is Manor Lords so successful?

What explains such a success for a tactical city-building developed by Slavic Magic, behind which we find Greg Styczeń, the only developer at the controls of the Polish studio? Let us not forget that storytelling around a game developed by a single person is more than exaggerated : contract workers have obviously lend a hand, even if the feat of a (very) reduced team can only impress . Perpetuating the idea that we can develop a game of this scope without any help is an intentionally false story: as Rafael Brown points out , the Solo deviate died with the development of games, from the 1980s.

Chronicle of a production

Noticed at the end of 2022 on the occasion of the release of a demo during the Next Fest, Manor Lords has since ceased to arouse the interest of millions of players in love with immersive experiences. To give life to his vision, which is still unfinished, Greg Styczeń has chosen to rely on his editor in order to be able to focus on the development of his game. He therefore clearly received much more help than it does not believe it. In reality, Styczeń began to work on it over six years ago as a part-time hobby, and it was only after having launched a patren in 2020 and having received a megagrants in 2021 that he Begun to subcontract certain work to entrepreneurs. What marketing tends to forget!

The success of Manor Lords is not based on one person

Easy to take in hand, with an attractive achievement, offering great freedom to players and the possibility of exploring his village in the third person, Manor Lords seems above all to surprise by his level of finish higher than we can generally Wait from an Early Access.

Today, Styczeń can count on the numerous feedback from players in early access, who have supported him for several years now, in order to develop (with his providers) additional content in the next twelve months.
